sweet corn
tomatoes
peppers
sweet onions
cucumbers
cilantro
bell peppers
watermelon or cantaloupe
carrots
beans
celery
romaine lettuce

Notes on the box.

Tomatoes, sweet onions, cilantro, and bell peppers diced and mixed together for a nice fresh mild salsa. Add a hot pepper if you have one!
Everything you need for a nice mirepoix - onion, celery, and carrots. Or the Cajun version (aka the holy trinity)- bell peppers, onions, and celery. Both provide the base for many a delicious dish! Like Chicken and Dumplings or Pasta e Fagioli. Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya
One more week of sweet corn after this!
Tomatoes will keep coming. As will peppers and more and more will be red as the season moves on. Melons will be in the boxes again next week. Planning on basil in the box next week. Remove carrots tops immediately for best storage.

Sweet Corn
Tomatoes
Lettuce
Cucumbers
carrots 2 ways
bell peppers
leeks
dill (not pictured)

Notes on the box.

BLT time! No better summer dinner than a nice BLT and corn on the cob enjoyed outside.
Everything except tomatoes should be stored in the fridge. Remove tops from bunched carrots for best storage. Corn is best eaten sooner than later! More coming next week! If you think you might not get to it, simply cut it off the cob and put it in a freezer bag and freeze it for later use. We’ve tried blanching and not blanching it before freezing and couldn’t tell the difference, so now we skip that step.

Ricotta again! and Antares, our cow’s milk manchego. I really like the Antares grated on eggs. And Ricotta is nice sweet or savory.

What’s in the box?

sweet corn
Tomatoes
green onions
carrots
bell peppers
green beans
cauliflower
broccoli
cilantro
cucumbers
zuchinni/summer squash

Notes on the box.

Summer treats time! Sweet Corn! Fresh picked. The fresher you eat it, the sweeter it will be. As it sits, the sugars turn to starch. Store sweet corn in the fridge in the husk until you are ready to eat it. When you are ready to eat it, pull off husks and silk and place into boiling water until corn is warmed and the color is brighter (just a few minutes is all you need). Butter and a little salt and enjoy! We will be having 3 more weeks in a row of sweet corn, so you will have plenty of time to enjoy all of your favorite corn recipes.
Tomatoes! Store tomatoes OUT of the fridge if you plan on eating them raw. Store them stem side down for even ripening. If you plan on eating them cooked, it’s okay to put them in the fridge. The cold changes the texture, but so does cooking them! Tomatoes will be coming again next week.

Two wedges of Deneb! One is young, just 3 months and was made in May. It will make a sublime grilled cheese with a slice of tomato. The other has a year more of aging than the other. Enjoy!
